I’m a planner (for anyone who didn’t already know that about me). I like to plan, organize, and sort things out. I like to know that everything will happen according to a concise set of tasks and events that I had prearranged. Planning is great. You know what isn’t as great? What isn’t “going as planned”? Life. I love life. I love living. I love being a mother to two wrangly, awnry, outrageous, silly, sweet, awesome teenage daughters. I love writing. I am not a pro by a long shot but I shoot from the hip and keep it all as real as possible. I am a climber. I have known Stone Mountain Park my entire life and I have walked up the mountain in my youth several times. I now climb the mountain (when the weather cooperates) at least 3 times per week. I am a country mouse and city mouse. I want a house somewhere between Between (yeah, you read that right), Loganville, Winder, Dacula, Grayson, Monroe, Madison, Rutledge, Athens, or Social Circle. I want the wrap-around porch and the worn-out and used-well retro stove. I also want to reach the tops of various highrises around Atlanta. I want that breath-taking escape that comes with stepping out of an elevator and on to a platform 72 stories above the street level

I read recently, from an article from the www.money.usnews.com website, about the top 12 home improvements that'll boost your home's selling price.
Curb appeal is putting your home's best foot forward; and here is how:
1. Improve your landscape
by planting fresh sod, replacing tired bushes, and adding color
2. Spruce up an entryway
by buying a new front door or painting the old one or by adding a new nicer mailbox
3. Change out light fixtures or plumbing fixtures
by adding these, you will give a modern touch with a minimal investment
4. Clarify any spaces that might confuse buyers
by defining an odd area by adding a desk or dresser for suggestion
5. Do partial renovations-rather than gutting
by adding a new vanity to a bath or replacing hardware in the kitchen
6. Consider removing popcorn ceilings
7. Remove window treatments unless they are high-end
8. Return rooms to original uses
9. Replace dirty/worn carpet
10. Depersonalize
11. Clean thoroughly
12. Paint
Anything to improve the appeal of the home will surely add the value (monetary or not) that is needed to get that home sold!

10 Best Apps for Real Estate Agents and Brokers *honestly, these apps are useful for anyone!* I do a lot of digging, on a daily basis, to find the best and most useful information for my clients, family, friends, whoever! I happened upon this article from Forbes Magazine from 2014. Contributor Melanie Haselmayr has a comprehensive list of apps that help when dealing with anything related to real estate. Please make sure to follow her on Twitter @melihaselmayr or Facebook: Melanie Haselmayr or her website: www.melaniehaselmayr.com Copy and paste this link into your web browser: www.forbes.com/sites/allbusiness/2014/06/24/10-best-apps-for-real-estate-agents-and-brokers to read the article straight from the online version of the magazine! I will give the key points of the article here: 1. Zillow is a multi-use platform, mainly used for property search. With a number of robust search filters and extra features (mortgage calculators, access to “hidden” inventory, property estimates), the site offers a good overview of the real estate market and available properties. Many listings include MLS numbers in order to facilitate your search. 2. Google Maps is a must-have for every real estate agent. When clients are ready to visit a list of potential properties, Google Maps is an indispensable tool in your pocket, guiding you to the next address. 3. Mortgage Calculator is a easy-to-use tool that helps you understand the repayment requirements a mortgage will require. Mortgage Calculator factors in a number of important parameters to provide the most accurate results, and tells you what your monthly or bi-weekly mortgage payments will be as well as your future payoff date. 4. Sitegeist is one of those apps that can have a multitude of uses depending on what you need to know. Wherever you are, it immediately provides interesting data about the surrounding area: average age of residents, political contributions, average temperature, commuting trends, and popular nearby places. Sitegeist might just provide the facts your clients are interested in knowing about each spot they visit. 5. Vert is an “anything and everything” conversion tool. Real estate agents deal with lots of different metrics: size, weight, volume, length, and sometimes even currency. Vert turns your smartphone into an all-in-one converter that fits in your pocket! 6. Cam Scanner enables you to scan documents directly from your mobile device – and makes them look like real scans! Instead of rushing to the office to send out documents, you can now get this done on the go. 7. Dropbox is a simple way to store documents in the cloud and have them accessible from anywhere. As a cloud storage solution that works on pretty much any device one can imagine, it allows you to have your client folders in order and handy whenever needed. You can even share them with clients, lawyers, and other collaborators. 8. PDFescape is the perfect solution for anyone who has a digital version of their signature on their computer that they would like to add to PDF documents, and it’s worth recommending to your clients and collaborators. It allows you to upload any PDF document, add signatures, text, and dates where necessary. 9. Dotloop is an advanced online collaboration tool. As the agent, you can upload documents and pre-assign those spaces that need a signature from your client. When the document gets sent over, the client creates an account, verifies their identity, and is guided through the document — without missing any important areas that need to be filled in. Signatures are e-verified and all data is secure and encrypted. 10. SignEasy is great tool for those always on the go. Create an account, “draw” your signature, and start signing documents from any mobile device! NOTE: Most of these apps are free and most are compatible with iOS, Android, or Web systems.
